Not a Fan of Rain, But...

I'm a born and raised California girl. I like my sunshine. Rain is not my friend. Yes, I know. We need the rain here in Southern California. But you go out in rain, you get wet. Not my idea of a good time. And then there's the fact that Southern Californians are notorious for driving badly in the rain. You'd think we'd never seen precipitation before.

Now, here is where the 'BUT' comes in. Rainy days are inspiring. I like to get cozy and create while not feeling guilt for staying in my PJs all day. It's been awhile since I've been able to get in a good session with my sketch pad and pen. They've been kinda lonely and when I can't drop new artwork, I get kinda cranky. The consistent rain has given me adequate reason to stay in and create some new pieces. Six to be exact.

This lovely is the first in my upcoming Tea Stain Sextet. In this demo I bump the initial flat vector art into something pixel-perfect using the multi-layering technique that's a Sketchie Beast signature (of which I give a tiny taste in this video). I betcha can't wait to see all six! Stay tuned.

OK, maybe rain isn't so bad. After all, some of the best songs ever written are about rain...The Beatles' Rain, CCR's Have You Ever Seen the Rain, Eurythmics' Here Comes the Rain Again, Albert Hammond's It Never Rains in California, Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head written by the late, great Burt Bacharach, The Carpenters' Rainy Days and Mondays, Brook Benton's A Rainy Night in Georgia, Guns N Roses' November Rain, The Temptations' I Wish It Would Rain, Bruno Mars' It Will Rain, Led Zeppelin's The Rain Song...(somebody stop me!)...and one of my personal favorites Rain by Brian Ruffin. Suffice to say, my 'Rain' playlist has been on loop for days.

I may be a sunshine-y gal, but the dew from heaven amps up my creative dew. And when I create I am supremely happy. Thank you, rain. Now go away and come on back another day.

THANK YOU for being a Subscriber. The Sketchie Beast does not take that lightly. values your love and support and hopes you'll stick around. You're appreciated!
