'INDUSTRIAL CITY' 2026

Top
IndustrialCity.jpg

This piece was created from a snap I took in Northern California. When I visit my sister, she'll sometimes drive me through the Valero Refinery in Benecia that we've dubbed Industrial City. Looks like something out of a Star Wars movie and I'm  fascinated by this place; interesting despite its ugliness.

'DISPOSABLE' ©2023

Disposable represents what you think it represents. Doesn't represent what you think it represents. A piece that could be open to interpretation save disposable, discardable and things leftover are very much a part of society when things don't or no longer please us.

The second of two tribute pieces to Edie Sedgwick, the Santa Barbara socialite, the Youthquaker and Andy Warhol muse who inspired many a crush in her time.

You can almost feel the bluesy, close atmosphere of the cabaret club, almost hear the smoky, somewhat world-weary voice of the chanteuse.

I wanted the names and the colors of this piece to convey a 'mood'. Hope it succeeded.

Hooked.jpg

'HOOKED' 2020

Hooked is a dark little whimsy and still one of my own favorites from my early days of creating. The Little Mermaid she ain't. The underwater hues and splashes of crimson are a quite fitting palette for this unfortunate sea creature who's been hooked in a most unfortunate manner.

'LOVE IS A MANY CLICHED THING' ©2019

'It's not you, it's me'...I don't deserve you'...'We've grown apart'...'I need time to find myself'...'We can still be friends'. Whether you've heard those words, or said them yourself, your relation with another has become as cliché as this image. This is not meant to trivialize the seriousness of heartbreak, we've all been there, but our penchant for drama often trumps the actual heartbreak.

'SUSIE SPUTNIK' ©2018

Susie Sputnik was inspired by a jet-set jazz album cover, enhanced with mid-century mojo. Acid green, rust and orange are not colors many fall in love with but it depends on the subject matter. For Miss Sputnik, the colors are out of this world. Put her in a clean white frame. You'll love her to the moon...and back.

YoungOzzy.jpg

'YOUNG OZZY' 2022

I had tribute art planned of a young Ozzy Osbourne in my art 'to-do' folder for a few years, I just never got around to it. With his recent passing, it was a good a time as any to get around to it. Before Ozzy became the godfather of metal and got all crazy train looking, he had a fine-featured face, a natural for art.

This piece features two of my favorite things of creation, the cherry blossom and the crow. Because I feature crows a lot in my art, people like to tell me they are my 'spirit animal'. I don't subscribe to such notions but if such notions were true, I'd like to believe it's because of their intelligent and curious nature and not because they're pesky and loud.

'WHEN THE SKY WAS OPENED'  ©2022

I like my art on the apocalyptic side and this piece fits the bill. When the Sky Opened has all the end times elements I'm drawn to; dark red fiery hues, lonely rural tableau and the lightning  storm for an added dash of drama.
