'IRREPRESSIBLE BEAUTY' ©2020

IrrepressibleBeauty.jpg

A war-torn atmosphere does not stop this irrepressible beauty from springing up through the cracks of the concrete to show the beauty and glory of what is naturally created vs what man unnaturally creates...war, chaos, bloodshed.

'HOOKED' ©2019

Hooked.jpg

Hooked is a dark little whimsy. The Little Mermaid she ain't. The underwater hues and splashes of crimson are a quite fitting palette for this unfortunate sea creature who's been hooked in a most unfortunate manner, and where escaping the pull of dry land will prove to be a bit uncomfortable.

'FLIGHT' ©2021

Flight_Graphic.jpg

As I read the news of the day, as I see people on social media ignite over political and societal issues, I'd like to fly above it all. Which inspired Flight, meant to convey escape, freedom, rapture and the perfection of flying in unity...which mankind badly needs do.

'CATS IN HATS' ©2023

CatswithHats.jpg

Oh, what have we here? Two proper, Victorian felines in their best headwear. There's not much more to say about these refined tabbies other than, just try to keep them from stealing your heart.

'WINTER MEET SOLSTICE'  ©2019

WinterMeetSolstice.jpg

Originally created for a winter-themed contest, Winter Meet Solstice uses a cool palette not typical of this artist who has an affinity for warmth in color and climate. This piece represents winter chill, the shortest day of the year and a very, merry Krampus.

'WHEN THE SKY OPENED'  ©2022

WhentheSkyOpened.jpg

I like my art on the apocalyptic side and this piece fits the bill. When the Sky Opened has all the end times elements I'm drawn to; dark red fiery hues, lonely rural tableau and the lightning  storm for an added dash of drama.

'WAR IS OXYTOCIN' ©2018

WarisOxytocin.jpg

There's much to see in this piece, from the bullet bandolier to the face paint, the common Bic lighter and the sheer attitude with a robust treatment of exotic elements and street art edge. What's not to love about this feisty femme who feeds off war and oxytocin?

'TRAPA'  2020

Trapa.jpg

Inspired by a Himalayan music channel, Trapa basically means 'student'. I love the beautiful faces of these Tibetan monks in patient posture offset by a passionate red palette, a much used choice of palette for its bold nature and shock to the eye. Featured as well are the many texture layers, along with erosion effects for conveyance of age, my special signature.

'PINK PERFECTION'  ©2023

PinkPerfection.jpg

Pink Perfection is an homage to my love of camellias. Camellia Japonica, to be exact. In Japanese lore, Samurai did not like tsubaki, considering them unlucky as they do not drop petal by petal as they die away. The whole bloom drops, like a severed head (their comparison, not mine). Unlucky or not, they are nothing short of perfection. Exceptionally carefree, they thrive where planted. Is it any wonder they are my spirit flower?

'BURNT OFFERING'  ©2023

BurntOfferiing.jpg

Joshua trees got their name from Mormon settlers who made their way across the Colorado River and spied these trees for the first time, they imagined their branches upraised in supplication to God and aptly named them Joshuas. This piece was inspired by a visit to Joshua Tree National Park shortly after wildfires had ravaged many acres. I remember it being a very  cold day with snow flurries, a somber day as I snapped this photo of a Joshua tree severely burned...but still standing.
